Laura M. Burton (nee Auble) returned to be with her Lord in Heaven on May 7, 2010. Beloved wife of the late Leffie, loving mother of Suzanne Wojcik (Mike Burley.) Laura was a lifelong nurse who graduated from Huron Road Hospital School of Nursing. She lived a life full of love, service and faith. William H. Pfaff,age 82 of Medina (formerly of Euclid,) died December 25, 2009. Devoted husband of 57 years to the late Jean, loving father of Jim (Susan) Pfaff and Mary Lou (Jamey) Laskey, dear grandfather of Sarah, Rebecca and Michael, new great-grandfather of Eliot Grace, brother of Robert (Sue) Pfaff and the late Janet Ford. Bill was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and a 1951 Purdue graduate. He retired in 1987 from E.I. Pfaff Company as a sales engineer to be active at East Shore Church United Methodist, Meals on Wheels, and Kiwanis Club. He continued with many new activities after moving to the Western Reserve Masonic Community in Medina. Dr. Ralph Conrad Lohrey
February 19, 1915 - July 1, 2009
Dr. Ralph Conrad Lohrey, a prominent Greater Cleveland pediatrician and co-founder of The Euclid Clinic and the Greater Cleveland Poison Control Center, died on July 1, 2009. He was 94.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton, and his medical degree from Western Reserve University in 1943. During WWII, First Lieutenant, then Captain. Ralph Lohrey served in the U. S. Army Medical Corps, stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State Dr. Lohrey began practicing as a pediatrician in 1948, with the group of doctors who later built the Euclid and Mentor Clinics and the Euclid General Hospital. Throughout his career he volunteered at the Salvation Army’s Booth Memorial Hospital. Dr. Lohrey worked with Drs. Sunshine and Hermann to found the Cleveland Poison Control Center, modeled after the first such poison center which had been started in Chicago. The committee of the Academy of Pediatrics lectured and promoted legislation which improved child safety. After retiring from Euclid Mednet, in 1980, he worked with the Euclid Public Schools through 1986.
His wife, Martha Campbell Lohrey died in 2007. He will be missed by his daughters: Beverly(Judson) Elliott, Suzanne (Doug) Eder, and Nancy Lohrey; grandchildren: Karin (Tracy) Marsh, Kim (Marty) Greene, Kelly(Eric Hess) Thompson-Hess, Dana Eder (Aaron Porter), Scott Eder, and great grandchildren: Alex Marsh, Ben Marsh, Aidan Marsh, Abbie Greene, Molly Greene, Danny Greene, and Kayla Thompson.
His memorial service will be at the Church of the Covenant, 11205 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH on July 18, at 3:30 PM. Donations to the Salvation Army will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
