I hear you sold your building--are you closing?
Yes, the building has been sold. NO, WE ARE NOT CLOSING! Beginning May 1, 2008 Crobaugh-Danaher Funeral Home will be leasing space and operating out of the facilities of Jakubs and Son Funeral Home, 936 East 185th Street, Cleveland.
Why are you moving? For years our families have been asking for more room and more parking. This move will allow us to provide those things as well as better flexibility in scheduling visitations and services while remaining close to the neighborhood we've served for 44 years.
What will change? Aside from our location, very little will change. Our name, ownership, and phone number will remain the same.
Are you handicapped-accessible?
Yes. Our new location is fully handicap accessable.
Can you recommend a florist?
Yes. We use Wickliffe Floral for our flower orders. We feel they provide a nice floral piece for the price. Contact them at (440) 943-4343.
How much does a funeral cost?
That is very much up to you. Depending on the services and merchandise you select, funerals can be made to fit most budgets. We gladly provide quotes over the phone. Pre-Planning your funeral in advance is the best way to keep funeral costs within your budget.
We're not affiliated with any church, but we'd like a minister to officiate the service. Can you help?
Yes. We have a number of clergy contacts who make themselves available to conduct funeral or memorial services.
Do you have luncheon facilities here?
No, but there are several restaurants nearby that provide post-funeral luncheons at a very reasonable cost per person. We would be happy to suggest one that best fits your needs.
Can I save money by buying a casket and vault from the cemetery?
Not necessarily! We have served many families who purchased their casket and vault from a cemetery in a "package deal," which included graves, vaults and caskets. The price they paid for the casket and vault turned out to be significantly higher than what we charge for comparable (and usually better quality) items. DO NOT JUST TAKE THE WORD OF A COMISSIONED CEMETERY SALESPERSON THAT YOU ARE GETTING A "DEAL." Please check with your Funeral Director (even if it isn't us!) first before making any merchandise purchases at the cemetery.
What about internet retailers, or Costco?
When buying from the internet or through "discount casket stores" please be careful. Casket quality varies greatly--we have seen some very poorly made caskets sold by discount casket stores--poor paint jobs, flimsy hardware, shoddy interiors and broken bed adjusters--are you really saving money if the product is of poor quality?
We offer quality caskets and work very hard to keep our merchandise prices comparable to third party retailers.
Please compare your warehouse or internet "deal" with us before you buy!
How do I pay for a funeral? We accept cash, checks, Visa/Mastercard and assignment of life insurance policies.
What is embalming? Is it a requirement?
Embalming is the temporary disinfection, preservation and restoration of the dead human body. It is not required by state law, but may be necessary if certain arrangements are desired, such as a funeral or cremation with viewing of the remains.
Embalming can only be performed by a person who is licensed by the State of Ohio. To become a licensed embalmer, you must have a bachelor's degree, attend embalming college (an additional 12-15 months,) serve a 1 year apprenticeship under a master embalmer and then pass state board exams. Continuing education requirements must be met on a bi-yearly basis as well.
Can we bring in pictures or mementos?
Of course! We want you to feel at home while you are here, so you are welcome to bring photos of your loved one to display.
I'm a veteran. What benefits am I entitled to?
Many area veterans are taking advantage of the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. The cemetery will provide grave spaces and outer burial containers for qualified veterans and their spouse free of charge.
We will gladly assist you in applying for any benefits you may be entitled to. Veteran's burial benefits are listed at the Veteran's Administration Website.
